Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the Rivers State Administrator has swore in 23 newly elected Local Government Chairmen in Port Harcourt, urging them to prioritize selfless service, grassroots development, and transparent leadership. He emphasized that public office is a responsibility, not a reward, and stressed the importance of peace, security, and support for local economies through small businesses, infrastructure, and education.

Ibas further commended President Bola Tinubu’s intervention on March 18, 2025, for restoring calm after political tensions and praised the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and citizens for a peaceful and credible election on August 30.
