Aryna Sabalenka, the world number one, has withdrawn from the upcoming China Open due to an injury sustained during her US Open victory earlier this month.

The Belarusian, who won her second consecutive US Open title, will miss the Women Tennis Association WTA 1000 event in Beijing starting September 24.

Sabalenka has expressed sadness about her withdrawal, stating she needs time to recover and aims to return at full strength. She is set to defend her title at the Wuhan Open next month and looks forward to returning to China next year.
