President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has appealed the Federal High Court Abuja’s ruling that ordered the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following her suspension.
In his appeal, Akpabio challenges the court’s jurisdiction, arguing that the matter involves internal Senate affairs protected under the Constitution.
He contends that the court erred in dismissing his preliminary objection and issuing orders that interfere with parliamentary procedures, which are safeguarded by law. Akpabio also claims the suit was premature, as internal dispute resolution channels had not been exhausted, and alleges the court violated his right to a fair hearing by considering issues not raised by the parties, including the alleged excessiveness of the suspension.
