Team Super Eagles of Nigeria are under increasing pressure in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign as South Africa has moved ahead in the group standings. South Africa’s Mbatha and Appollis scored in the fifth and 26th minutes respectively against Rwanda, boosting their position. The South Africa versus Rwanda match is being played simultaneously at Mbombela Stadium, while Nigeria faces Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen scored a brace in the third and 37th minutes, bringing the Super Eagles to 17 points—just one point behind the current leaders, South Africa. Nigeria is presently second in the group standings.
