Pretoria High Court has rejected the family of late Zambian President Edgar Lungu’s appeal to have his body buried in South Africa. The court affirmed that Lungu should be buried in Zambia, his home country.
Lungu, who died in a South African hospital in June at age 68, had family efforts to keep his remains in South Africa to prevent Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema from attending or speaking at the funeral. However, the court previously ruled that Zambia has the right to bury him, and the decision has now been upheld, with his body expected to be transferred to Zambia.
