Train derailment in Matrouh Egypt has resulted in three deaths and 103 injuries. According to report, the incident involved seven carriages of train No. 1935, traveling from Marsa Matrouh to Alexandria, which derailed due to track subsidence, causing two carriages to overturn.
While Emergency services responded quickly, with hospitals on high alert and over 50 ambulances deployed; by evening, 87 injured individuals had been treated and discharged.
Also, Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir visited the scene and ordered an investigation, warning that responsible parties would face dismissal. The accident raises ongoing concerns about Egypt’s rail safety, with 220 incidents reported in 2024 causing 57 deaths, prompting ongoing search efforts and public safety alerts.
