United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF 2025 HIV estimates report has revealed that in 2024, out of approximately 40.8 million people living with HIV globally, 2.42 million were children aged 0-19.

Daily, about 712 children became infected, and around 250 died from AIDS-related causes, mainly due to limited access to prevention and treatment.

Additionally, roughly 13.8 million children under 18 had lost one or both parents to AIDS, facing increased risks of poverty, discrimination, and other hardships. Of the 630,000 AIDS-related deaths in 2024, about 14% were children under 20.
