World Health Organisation WHO has reported that over 30 million children worldwide did not complete their measles full vaccination course.

While global measles vaccination coverage slightly increased in 2024, outbreaks surged in 60 countries, nearly twice as many as in 2022.

While Vaccine access and hesitancy remain challenges, especially in conflict-affected regions, the organization highlighted progress in immunization efforts but noted that 14.3 million children still miss vaccines or receive partial coverage.

WHO also announced the launch of a new HIV prevention drug, Lenacapavir, effective for six months, with efforts underway to increase access worldwide. Additionally, WHO certified Suriname as malaria-free and validated the elimination of trachoma in Burundi and Senegal, bringing the total to 57 countries eliminating at least one neglected tropical disease.
