World Trade Organisation Director-General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has denied authoring a viral social media post that criticised President Bola Tinubu’s handling of insecurity in Nigeria. The post, falsely titled “Trump didn’t ‘hit’ us – our leaders did,” accused Nigerian leaders of prioritising rhetoric over action and urged Tinubu to “secure the people.”
Okonjo-Iweala described the message as fake and malicious, saying it did not come from her. Through her verified X account, she warned the public against sharing the post and said legal action was being taken against those behind it. She condemned the impersonation, calling the perpetrators “cowards” and “scammers.”
