Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal will miss Spain’s World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria after suffering a recurrence of his groin injury in the Champions League loss to PSG.

The 18-year-old is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks, casting doubt over his Clasico availability on October 26. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente downplayed tension with Barca boss Hansi Flick over the player’s handling, stressing focus on the qualifiers.

Spain will also be without Nico Williams and Dani Carvajal, while Alvaro Morata was left out of the squad. Spain lead Group E with six points and face Georgia on October 11 before hosting Bulgaria on October 14.
