Abia State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services across the state.

The Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Ikechukwu Monday, said the government would focus on rehabilitating water facilities, modernising distribution networks and developing sustainable infrastructure.

He made the statement during a two-day stakeholders’ workshop in Umuahia to develop a Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Investment Plan for Abia State. The workshop also reviewed data from a statewide assessment of water, sanitation and hygiene facilities across the state’s 17 local government areas.
