Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding residents’ rights and dignity, condemning caste-based discrimination such as the Osu practice as unlawful and barbaric.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, emphasized that such discrimination violates Nigeria’s Constitution and anti-discrimination laws. The Command highlighted that no citizen should be denied rights based on community, ethnicity, or caste, and stressed that any attempt to restrict couples’ rights to marry or live together due to caste is illegal. They also assured that offenders will face legal consequences, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to rule of law over oppressive traditions.
