A small plane carrying seven Italians, two Germans, two Spaniards, and two crew members have crashed shortly after taking off from Pisco Airport in Peru on Saturday, killing all 13 people on board.
The aircraft, a Cessna 208 Caravan, was en route to the Nazca Lines archaeological site when it went down just after 1:00 pm local time. Authorities confirmed that no survivors have been found, and rescue teams are still recovering bodies from the wreckage, which was heavily damaged by fire.
Currently, the cause of the crash is currently under investigation by Peru’s civil aviation and air accident authorities. In response to the tragedy, President Keiko Fujimori indicated that the government is considering closing Pisco Airport. The victims ranged in age from 24 to 78, and the incident has shocked the local community and tourists alike.
