Health officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo has reported that the current Ebola outbreak in Kasai Province is showing signs of decline.

According to the World Health Organization, there have been 64 confirmed and probable cases, resulting in 42 deaths—a case fatality rate of approximately 66 percent.

In the past week, seven new cases and seven deaths have been recorded across three health areas. Experts note that the transmission rate is slowing, attributed to enhanced surveillance, case management, and infection control measures.

The outbreak remains confined to six of the 21 health zones in Bulape, although five healthcare workers have been infected, three of whom have died. Vaccination efforts is however ongoing, with over 4,100 people vaccinated and thousands of doses in reserve.

Authorities caution that family clusters and delays in isolation continue to pose risks, but overall, the spread appears to be stabilizing.
