Ghana announces repatriation of an additional 1,000 nationals from South Africa amid ongoing anti-migrant violence. The West African country stated that special flights would bring back the migrants as part of the “final phase” of its evacuation efforts, after already returning over 900 nationals.

Ghana plans to demand compensation from the South African government for the loss of property and assets. Additionally, Ghana has petitioned the International Criminal Court to investigate attacks against foreigners, which it claims could amount to crimes against humanity.

Currently, both Ghana and Nigeria have called on the African Union to address the issue at the next summit.
