Nollywood actor and director Ikechukwu Mitchel Ogbonna, known as IK Ogbonna, has broken his silence on the death of his close friend and fellow actor, Alex Ekubo, who died on May 12, 2026, from complications related to metastatic kidney cancer.

Recall Ekubo passed away at Evercare Hospital in Lagos after hours on life support. Throughout Ekubo’s funeral, Ogbonna remained silent, seen as a sign of mourning, until he shared an emotional tribute on Instagram.
