Nearly 600 former Israeli military, intelligence and diplomatic officials have urged US President Donald Trump to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to curb violence by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.
In a letter, the group warned that escalating settler violence could trigger a wider regional crisis and threaten Israeli, US and regional security. They called on Trump to address the issue during his meeting with Netanyahu in Washington, arguing that he was uniquely positioned to help prevent further escalation.
The appeal comes amid increased violence in the West Bank, following a deadly shooting in which two Israelis and four Palestinians were killed.
