Nigeria Customs Service NCS has reinforced its commitment to coordinated border management, trade facilitation, and regional economic integration following a high-level benchmarking mission to the Beitbridge Border Post between Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The mission, attended by senior officials including Customs chiefs from Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, and Zimbabwe, was organized with the support of the African Export-Import Bank as part of efforts to deepen intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
During the event, Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi emphasized the importance of practical implementation of modern border management systems, highlighting lessons from Zimbabwe’s Beitbridge and Chirundu border posts. He stressed that sustainable reform relies on institutional coordination, digital interoperability, and professional human capital.
