Victor Osimhen made history on Wednesday night by becoming the second Nigerian ever to score a hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League, leading Galatasaray to a 3–0 win over Ajax in Amsterdam. The Super Eagles striker scored twice from penalties and once with a header, becoming the first Galatasaray player to net a Champions League hat-trick since Burak Yilmaz in 2012.

Osimhen’s treble also saw him surpass Obafemi Martins as Nigeria’s top scorer in Champions League history with 15 goals. It marked his 50th appearance for Galatasaray and 20th in the UCL, putting him close to the Nigerian record for appearances in the competition.
