Federal Capital Territory Police Command has recovered vandalized public infrastructure and uncovered a network involved in the illegal production and use of fake diplomatic and official government number plates.

Disclosed by Police Commissioner Ahmed Sanusi during today’s press briefing at the Abuja headquarters, the operation led to the recovery of stolen drainage covers, solar-powered street lights, armored electricity cables, and internet communication cables from various parts of the territory, including Maitama, Garki, Durumi, Jabi, Apo Legislative Quarters, Lugbe, and Nyanya.

The police arrested five suspects—Godwin Aja, Mustapha Nasiru, Ibrahim Garba, Abdulrasheed Sale, and Dabarani Mujitafa in connection with the recovered items. Also, Sanusi emphasized that such vandalism constitutes economic sabotage with serious consequences for residents, and said the recoveries were achieved through intelligence-led operations and proactive patrols.
