Petrol stations across Nigeria have closed on Tuesday due to a strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria PENGASSAN, entering its second day, which also affected key petroleum agencies.
The strike caused most stations to shut and disrupted operations at NNPC Ltd., NUPRC, and NMDPRA.
The power sector was also impacted, with electricity generation dropping below 3,500MW amid gas supply disruptions caused by the strike, linked to a dispute involving the Dangote Refinery’s workers. In response, the Nigerian Independent System Operator has implemented contingency measures, including increased hydropower and load management, to prevent a nationwide blackout and maintain grid stability.
