Senegal’s President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has been elected as the new Chairman of ECOWAS, taking over from Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio.
The appointment was made during a high-level regional summit attended by West African leaders. Additionally, Biram Diop was appointed as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission, succeeding Dr. Omar Touray.
The summit focused on strengthening regional integration, improving cooperation, and promoting solidarity among West African nations. The leadership changes aim to advance the region’s collective development and stability.
