Team Nigeria’s first batch of athletes and officials has departed its training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, for Glasgow ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which begin in three days.

The second batch is expected to join the team in the Games Village on Friday. Sprinter Favour Ashe praised the National Sports Commission for providing quality facilities, feeding and full payment of athletes’ allowances.

Nigeria’s medal hopes will be boosted by world record holder Tobi Amusan, who is targeting a third consecutive Commonwealth title in the women’s 100m hurdles. However, long jumper Ese Brume will miss the Games due to injury, with Ruth Usoro drafted into the squad as her replacement.
