World Health Organisation WHO has begun vaccinating frontline health workers and contacts in response to a new Ebola outbreak in Kasai Province, DRC.

An initial 400 doses of the Ervebo vaccine have been administered in Bulape, with plans to deliver an additional 45,000 doses. The outbreak, declared in September, has caused 32 suspected cases, 20 confirmed, and 16 deaths, marking the first in three years.

WHO officials warn that the outbreak could spread further, especially given a confirmed case near Bulape, and pose a risk of crossing into neighboring Angola. Urgent action is needed, as delays could hinder containment, amid concerns over reduced international support.
