Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has urged the federal government to establish social safety nets for impoverished Nigerians affected by President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms.
Okonjo-Iweala made this call on today, Thursday following her meeting with the President at Aso Villa in Abuja.
While she praised the President for implementing economic reforms such as the removal of petrol subsidies and the unification of foreign exchange windows, she emphasized the need for the government to support vulnerable populations in coping with the economic hardships resulting from these policies.
